GCR Ratings, a subsidiary of Moody's, has affirmed Kenya Re's "AA+ (KE)" national scale financial strength rating and "B" international scale rating, with a stable outlook on both.
The ratings reflect the reinsurer's robust capital position, which stood at 54.5 billion KES (420.05 million USD) as of 31 December 2025.
GCR Ratings also expects Kenya Re to maintain strong liquidity, supported by sustained profitability and disciplined balance sheet management.
The rating comes as Kenya Re advances its regional expansion strategy, with plans to establish operations in Tanzania and Rwanda, further strengthening its presence across Africa.
