Merger between XL and Catlin Group

The Irish reinsurer XL gains control of Catlin Group for an amount of 4.1 billion USD.
Catlin Group which is headquartered in Bermuda, operates from several subsidiaries in key reinsurance markets. It also owns the largest union of the Lloyd's Catlin Syndicate 2003.

Called XL Catlin, the new entity is endowed with 17 billion USD of shareholder's equity.
It hopes to achieve for 2015 an amount of 10 billion USD in insurance premiums and 3 billion USD in reinsurance premiums.
