A tornado ravaged the suburbs of Oklahoma City

A tornado on the fourth scale of the Fujita five-scale system has devastated the city of Moore, a suburb of Oklahoma City, in the south-east of United States. Spread over a 3-kilometer diameter, the tornado claimed the lives of 24 people while many others went missing. Many persons were hospitalized after injuries caused by flying debris. The state of a major catastrophe has been declared. The whirlwind also caused the destruction of two schools, a hospital and many homes. According to initial estimates, the amount of insured losses would be comprised between 1 and 2 billion USD. The reconstruction of buildings will require between 2.2 and 6.4 billion USD.
