A.M. Best denounces rising protectionism in EMEA markets

"The role of protectionism in insurance markets of the EMEA zone" is the subject of the study recently published by A.M. Best. The document reveals that the protectionist measures adopted by the countries of the region pose a threat to the insurance industry.

For A.M. Best, increasing the retention of domestic insurance and reinsurance companies and restricting foreign investment could lead to the bankruptcy of the local market in the event of a major disaster.

The rating agency is pushing for the adoption of an open policy based on the distribution of risks.
