AM Best, low impact of regional unrest on insurance

The rating agency AM Best notes that recent regional unrest had little impact on insurance business in Lebanon. The agency, however, reveals that a continuation of the economic slowdown caused by these events could, nevertheless, harm the business.

This is especially true in view of the fierce competition among the 52 companies operating on this tight market and their rising acquisition costs. Market consolidation is made difficult because of the family structure of local insurers.
