Assurances At-Takafulia starts operating

Assurances At-Takafulia has officially started its activities on January 2, 2014. This new takaful insurer, the third to have obtained a license in Tunisia, is providing guarantees for both companies and individuals. The company whose capital amounts to 10 million TND (6.1 million USD) is at 96% owned by financial institutions.
Among the main shareholders are the market’s traditional players STAR, Tunis Re, Assurances Salim, AMI, MAE, CTAMA. In Tunisia, Islamic insurance accounts for only 1% of the market share.
