Axa in partnership with IFC to enhance insurance in emerging countries

Axa has signed a partnership with the International Finance Corporation (World Bank subsidiary dedicated to private sector). The agreement concerns the enhancement of insurance in emerging countries.

Initially focused on Africa and Latin America, this partnership will take the form of co-investments or acquisitions of local companies. The enhancement of insurance for women, an "unexploited market" in emerging countries, is also in the program of this agreement.

Note that, according to Denis Duverne, deputy-CEO of Axa, the interests held by the IFC "in numerous banks and microinsurance structures...provide the possibility of distribution agreements."
