Cairo, Istanbul and Tehran, cities most exposed to earthquakes

According to a study from the University of Colorado, Cairo, Istanbul and Tehran are the three major cities of the Middle East most vulnerable to earthquakes.

They appear on a list of 15 megacities around the world which are likely to sustain the "big one" based on their population size and seismic history. Such a prospect would plunge them in a situation of financial bankruptcy. Continued population growth and investments will make the potential cost of rebuilding ever higher.
