Cancellation insurance for Roland-Garros 2020

Roland-GarrosThe French Tennis Federation (FFT) has underwritten a cancellation insurance for the Roland Garros tournament initially scheduled from 27 September to 11 October 2020. The operation involved the broker Gras Savoye Willis Towers Watson along with several insurers including Lloyd's.

The coverage provides compensation for the financial losses caused by the tournament’s cancellation due to terrorism, yellow vests protests, damage to infrastructure, natural disasters, etc.

Cancellation upon administrative decision due to a health crisis as well as the non-participation of international players are not included in the contract.

The French Open is a major financial challenge. In 2017, the tournament generated a turnover of 230.7 million EUR (276 million USD).
