Cession of Zurich Life Assurance to Swiss Re

Munich Re expects to register in 2003 its first annual net loss in about a century, in particular due to the substantial losses accumulated on the stock exchange markets. The recent 390-million-dollar increase resulting from the sale of Allianz's shares will not be sufficient to get back to the green. The financial agency Fitch took its rating down from AA+ to AA.
