Compulsory insurance for the workers of the construction sector

The ministry of labor requires henceforth the underwriting of a workmen’s compensation policy for all construction sector workers.

No construction license shall be issued unless this insurance certificate is produced. Almost 90% of the 45 million workers employed in the building sector have no protection.

Building companies rely on subcontractors who make recourse to recruitment companies who, in their turn, resort to subcontracting.

There may be 6 to 7 levels of outsourcing before the direct recruiter can be identified. The workers are often migrants who are completely unaware of labor laws.
