Costa Concordia will be dismantled in Italy

The owner of the Costa Concordia has followed the recommendations of the Italian government which advised that the dismantling of the ship, which grounded in January 2012 off the little port of Giglio in Tuscany, be done in Italy. Its demolition will therefore be carried out in the port of Genoa for the amount of 100 million EUR (137 million USD).

This project provides employment to a hundred people for at least one year. Insurers advocate that this work will be carried out in Turkey where the estimated price for this task is 40 million EUR (54 million USD). The ship is still 280 kilometers from Genoa. The date of its refloating has been set for July 20.
