Covid-19: 28 elephants tested

elephantAt the Arignar Anna Zoological Park (South India), 28 elephants have been tested for Covid-19. Results are expected during the week of 14-20 June 2021.

This preventive action comes after the death of a nine-year-old Asiatic lioness from SARS-CoV-2. This event marks the first death in India of an animal infected with the virus. According to The New Indian Express, eight other felines are believed to be infected with the virus and are seriously ill.

In Bhagwan Birsa Park (eastern India), 21 tigers have also been tested after the death of a 10-year-old tiger.
