Damage estimated at 221 million USD after the passage of severe storms

The storms that hit the Sultanate of Oman on Monday, January 19, have caused considerable damage in various parts of the country.

Initial estimates show economic losses amounting to 221 million USD, with several hundred vehicles being damaged.

Insured losses in the motor class of business alone could be around 26 million USD.

The cost of rebuilding of affected roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, houses, shops and buildings will be much higher.
High winds, snow and hail were reported while many rivers have burst their banks.
