DAPS has published the report on the insurance activities in 2010

The Direction des Assurances et de la Prévoyance Sociale (DAPS), has published the sector’s figures for the year 2010. The written premiums amount to 21 872.8 million MAD (2 621 million USD), a 4.5% increase over one year. Motor insurance, which detains 32.3% of the premiums written, remains the most important, followed by life insurance and capitalization with 30.1%. Non-life insurance has posted a turnover of 15 213.3 million MAD (1 823 million USD) that is 69.55% of the overall turnover, against 14 220.8 million MAD (1 815 .9 million USD) in 2009

The insurance penetration rate has reached 2.8% in 2010 for the sector as a whole, that is, 0.9% for life insurance and 1.9% for non-life. The institution of new compulsory insurance policies is likely to improve the sector’s performance. Morocco stands in the 52nd rank of world insurance.
