Debate over the taxation of insurance products

he French government has come to a decision: insurance shall be contributing with up to 3 billion EUR (4 billion USD) in the planned reduction of fiscal and social niches. The measure will focus essentially on the health and life classes of business which will see their rates of levy increased. The first measures pertain to the suppression of some tax exemptions, the taxation of the insurers' investments and the review of the collection of social contributions. Other measures are possible to envisage. Insurers, on their part, forecasted that the plan announced would cost them not 3 billion EUR (4 billion USD) but 4.7 billion EUR (6.3 billion USD).
