Designing a disaster warning system

Between January and July 2010, China suffered more than 26 000 natural events, that is, four times as many as last year. The lack of preventive systems partly accounts for the heavy human (1 400 died) and economic losses during the mud slide at Zhouqu. Beijing plans to intervene by setting up in five years' time control stations or geological warning centers.
