Doha Insurance awaiting the approval of the DIFC

According to Bassam Hussein, CEO of Doha Insurance, the Qatari insurer is awaiting the approval of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in order to start its reinsurance business that should start in the coming months, stated the Gulf Times.

The insurer will operate in this sector through MENA Re Underwriters Limited, a reinsurance company owned by Doha Insurance at 100%.

Bassam Hussein confided, on this occasion, the company's enthusiasm to embark on "another major project in a key market."

It is worth mentioning that Doha Insurance has already set a joint venture (Yemen - Qatar Insurance Company) in Sanaa and gained a share of 5% in the Jordanian insurer First Insurance.
