Dubai, compulsory health insurance

The law establishing the mandatory health insurance for all employees of Dubai was finalized in November 2013. People working in the emirate will be entitled to a minimum medical coverage.

This insurance requirement has been in force since the end of October for all companies employing more than 1 000 staff members. In July 2015, companies employing 100 to 999 staff will integrate this program. By June 30, 2016, at the latest, all employees in Dubai will be insured. At mid-April 2014, 50 insurers were authorized to sell insurance policies entering within the scope of the new law.
