France, first insurance contract dedicated to autonomous motorcycles

In the footsteps of driverless vehicles, projects on autonomous motorcycles are duly underway, with millions of kilometers of testing being carried out in order to craft viable technologies. The project in the pipeline has almost come to fruition with decisive tests being concocted in Australia.

Even if this kind of motorcycle is not yet approved, a specific insurance contract has already been drafted by broker April Moto thanks to the support provided by Axa, the Google groups, Appel and Yamaha.

April Moto has been working on the elaboration of the international standards that are compatible with the establishment of a viable insurance system framework. The bonus-malus system shall be given up in favor for a rating based on the data received from the moto computer which shall provide information on the dangerous areas that the motorist uses regularly.
