General agents brokers close their offices because of Coronavirus

ParisInsurers, federations and brokers' unions have called upon general agents and intermediaries to close their offices and work from home. This procedure will reduce non-essential contacts in accordance with the French government's procedure following the country's transition to stage 3 of the pandemic.

With the exception of some companies that are classified as operators of vital importance (OIV), insurance is not on the list of vital services such as banks. As a result, general agents, brokers and agencies should cease their direct activity and operate remotely. By avoiding physical contact, key services such as claims management, assistance or compensation will continue to be provided in compliance with containment measures.

Federations and principals shall send circulars to their members to notify them of this decision.
