Global insurance industry, 4.9 trillion USD in 2013

As a prelude to the launch of the "Rendez-Vous de Septembre" in Monte Carlo (13-18 September 2014), Aon Benfield has released the ninth edition of the Insurance Risk Study.

Used with permission from Microsoft According to figures published by this study, the entire global activity (insurance and reinsurance) achieved a turnover up by 0.9% to 4.9 trillion USD in 2013, split in respectively 28.6%, 67.4% and 4% for non-life insurance, life insurance and reinsurance.

A record calling another, since the global capital of insurance and reinsurance reached a historic 4 trillion USD the same year.
The combined ratio in the 50 best-performing countries rose to 99.1% in 2013 against 100.1% the previous year.
Note that Aon Benfield's forecasts locate non-life premiums recorded at around 1.6 trillion USD in 2018, an increase of 18% over the five coming years.
