Growth of insurance

The Rwandan central bank expects an increase of the insurance penetration rate of 10% by 2020. This rate was 2.3% in 2010. The insurance market has already shown positive signs of development with the increase of assets from 31 billion RWF (53 million USD) in 2005 to 119 000 000 000 RWF (203 million USD) in 2010.
The number of insurers and brokers has increased substantially. The country recorded a significant increase in local and foreign investments, which have contributed to a 7.5% growth of GDP.
