Heavy bill for insurers following the United States snowstorm

The beginning of 2016 was rough in the United States. The Jonas snowstorm that swept the east of the country during the weekend of January 23, 2016, caused the death of at least 20 people and tremendous damage , especially in New York and Washington D.C.

A total of 85 million Americans were affected by the bad weather. Much of the losses have been reported throughout the region. The buildings for commercial and private use have been particularly hit by the storm.
A multitude of road accidents was also counted. Snowfall reaching more than 60 cm in some places and lasting less than 36 hours, has paralyzed road and air traffic and interrupted all activities.

More than 11,000 departure and arrival flights from and at the east coast airports have been cancelled The economic losses have been initially estimated between 2.5 and 3 billion USD by the US rating agency Moody's.
