Huge fire in California
On 31 July 2020, a big fire named "Apple Fire" broke out in the Cherry Valley and San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California.
The ongoing fire has already ravaged more than 8 300 hectares. Nearly 2 600 homes, that is 7 800 people, have had to be evacuated. No casualties have been reported until now.
According to weather forecasts, global warming, low humidity and winds blowing from the ground are undermining firefighters’ relentless strive to fight the flames. An investigation has been opened to determine the origin of the disaster.
