Increase of carriers’ third party liability insurance premiums

Hauliers protested against the scale of third party liability insurance premiums increases (6 to 9%) in 2004. According to DAPS ( Insurance and Social Security Directorate), the measure was meant to reduce the passengers hauliers insurers'chronic account deficit (MATU and CAT). The successive increases applied between 1998 and 2002 have made it possible to bring back loss ratio from 111% to 102%.
