Insurance of semi-autonomous cars in full swing in Germany

German insurer, Allianz, set up a portfolio of 3 000 insurance policies designed for semi-autonomous vehicles. Launched in 2016, this product is specially adapted to vehicles endowed with one of the three following systems: automatic emergency braking, automatic parking or adaptive cruise control with braking function.

The plan proposes coverage in case of breakdown, fire or theft. The theft plan is extended to piracy of the vehicle’s electronic keys, that is, attempted theft without break-in.

The insurance policy which, provided upon its launch, a 15% reduction on the premiums, today offers motorists a 25% discount.
