Insured losses from earthquake could reach 7.6 million USD

According to the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC), the cost of insured losses following the earthquake of February 6, 2016 in Taiwan could reach 250 million TWD (7.6 million USD).

Only 148 people who have purchased an earthquake insurance policy will be covered. The amounts borne by the insurers totaled 1.5 million TWD (45 645 USD) per insured person. In addition to these amounts, there are relocation fees of up to 200 000 TWD (6 086 USD).

The human toll of the 6.4-magnitude disaster reported 116 dead and nearly 400 injured. In material terms, 9 residential buildings were completely destroyed.
