Insurers advocate a VAT decrease

Local insurers have voiced their concern to the government over the VAT applied to insurance products. They claim to be underprivileged in comparison with their counterparts in neighboring countries who do not bear VAT. This tax shall reduce the demand and slowdown the progression of the insurance penetration rate, estimated at 1.5% of GDP in 2008.
