Insurers are asking for higher motor third party liability premiums

Algerian insurers face a serious deficit in their motor portfolio. The many accidents that occur each year are responsible for heavy losses in this class of business.

In 2014, 3 984 people died on Algerian roads and 44 546 were injured. On average, accidents claim 11 lives per day in Algeria.

Payments to policyholders and beneficiaries are poised to grow in the coming years due to rising repair costs.

H. Khelifati, chairman of Alliance Assurances, has sent one more time alarm signals to a situation which is likely to cause problems to many insurers.
