Insurers are speaking up

Mauritanian insurers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the new law requiring Mauritanian companies to underwrite an insurance policy with the national health insurance fund (CNAM), a provision that came into effect during February.

Insurance companies are concerned about the loss of its entire health portfolio for the benefit of CNAM which calls for the implementation of the law arguing that it is unable to stop its enforcement. It believes that the government is the only authority that can meet insurers’ grievances.
