Insurers' black list

Following its last meeting in Dubai, the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), which counts 120 insurers and regulators in 140 countries, announced that it would prepare a black list of insurers having a systemic risk. This risk is defined as that caused by the collapse of the system, due to the bankruptcy of a major player in the insurance industry. This event is deemed possible because of the globalization of the activity of some large companies. A two-year schedule has been established to develop this list which will, nonetheless remain confidential. The designated institutions are required to adopt strict standards regarding their sharehoders' equity and regulations monitoring.
