Insurers in favor of widening distribution channels

The Association of Kenyan Insurers, (AKI), is advocating an amendment of insurance legislation with a view to expand distribution channels. Insurance companies can currently market their products only through general agents or brokers. According to the association, this situation stands as an impediment to the growth of insurance penetration rate. All of the companies are hoping that from now on they will be able to distribute via department stores, banks and mobile telephony.
