Insurers’ turnover exceeds 70 million USD

The turnover reported by the market amounted to 38.3 billion FCFA (70 million USD) for the year 2014. The poverty of a large part of the population has strained the progression of penetration rate.

The disadvantaged social groups remain reluctant to purchase an insurance policy, especially in the field of life business.
The industry boomed after the withdrawal of State monopoly in 1998 and the entry on the market of many private companies.
