Insurers will not be penalized by hurricane Sandy

The rating agency Fitch estimates that hurricane Sandy will have little impact on the ratings of the insurers affected by the event. Despite the scale of the damage, insurers in the north eastern part of the United States (AllState, Liberty Mutual, State Farm, Travelers...) are endowed with a sound financial basis along with a good reinsurance coverage. Fitch has temporarily estimated the loss at 25.8 billion USD.
