Introduction of a national agricultural insurance policy

In partnership with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the National Insurance Commission (NIC) has introduced a national comprehensive policy for agricultural insurance.

Intended for smallholder farmers, the new cover protects Ghanaian farmers against the risks associated with their activities particularly natural disasters and bad weather.

This draft policy was prepared by several stakeholders among whom the AGRA, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Ghana Insurers Association (GIA).
