Ivorian insurance industry: 2016 results

The Ivorian insurance industry generated a turnover of 308.28 billion FCFA (495.7 million USD) in 2016, up by 10% compared to the 279 billion FCFA (464.8 million USD) reaped in 2015.

Underwritings for the life class of business have amounted to 132.77 billion FCFA (213.5 million USD), accounting for 43.1% of the market share. The non life business, on its part, has generated 175.51 billion FCFA (282.2 million USD) in premiums, accounting for 56.9% of the market’s overall volume.

According to the insurance department, an institution attached to public treasury, the turnover of Ivorian insurance accounts for 27.47% of the overall underwritings of the CIMA countries.
