Japanese cars considered among the safest by insurance companies

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is a body specialized in studying the American roads and transportation, on the insurers' behalf.
It is funded by all insurance companies and its reports are highly appreciated by vehicle manufacturers and the insurance stakeholders.

In early December 2015, the IIHS published an analysis on the safety of late-model vehicles circulating in the United States.
While 33 models had inherited the "Top Safety Pick Plus" rewarding the safest cars in 2014, the same title was rewarded to 48 cars in 2015 among which Toyota, Honda and Subaru for 23 models and Volkswagen and Audi for seven models.
The Chrysler 200 is the only US automobile that won this label.
