MAMDA advocates private insurance involvement in agriculture

The Mutuelle Agricole Marocaine d’Assurance “MAMDA” is satisfied with the way its weather insurance product has evolved. After two years of marketing, sales of the drought contract managed on behalf of the State have increased significantly.

During the 2011-2012 period, the area covered stretches out over 650 000 hectares while the 2015-2016 objective is set to cover one million hectares. MAMDA is considering other offers including multi-risk arboriculture distributed by mutual insurer, initially on behalf of the State. MAMDA is keen on attracting reinsurers to support its products and to gradually privatize this sector.
