Many insurers tempted by Ireland following the Brexit

Investment company, Irish Life Investment Managers, has received about fifty information requests from British companies that are considering the option of getting established in Ireland following the Brexit announcement. These companies mostly belong to the financial sector and often have an entity in Ireland. Some of these companies are insurance companies.

In November 2016, Ireland’s central bank had already been in touch with some of the insurers who were concerned about the probable exit of Great Britain from the European Union. Requests from insurers have multiplied starting from the third quarter of 2016. According to Ernest Young, 232 000 jobs in the British financial sector threatened because of Brexit.
