Mapfre Re extends to Southeast Asia

In order to consolidate its presence in Asia, the reinsurer Mapfre Re opens two branches in Malaysia and Singapore. The two new entities will be led by Andres Lorenzana.

The Spanish reinsurer that already has two offices in Manila (Philippines) and Beijing (China) hopes to expand its customer portfolio in this densely-populated area.
Present through branches and / or representation and underwriting offices in 19 countries, Mapfre Re posted a turnover of 3.343 billion EUR (4.064 billion USD) in 2014. Pre-tax profit amounted to 200 million EUR (243 million USD).
Mapfre Re is the reinsurance company of the Spanish direct insurance group Mapfre.
