Metropolitan Life and Cannon Assurance merged

Cannon Assurance and Metropolitan Life Kenya embarked on a joint venture involving their life insurance business after obtaining licenses from regulatory authorities. Underwriting teams continue for the time being to operate separately.

The weight of Metropolitan Life in the new entity will be sizable. Metropolitan is a subsidiary of the South African company MMI Holdings listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
