Microinsurance honored in Douala

The economic capital Douala has recently hosted a training seminar on microinsurance between September 8 and 10. This meeting has allowed to display the latest developments of this product and to update strategies for its development in the CIMA zone.

According to the secretary general of the Conférence Interafricaine des Marchés d’Assurance (CIMA), the potential of microinsurance is huge, generating several times as much revenues as those of traditional insurance companies.
In Cameroon, microinsurance accounts for about 10% of the 154 billion FCFA (311 million USD) premiums posted by insurers in 2012.
