Most Senegalese have no health insurance

According to the French NGO CIDR (Centre International de Développement et de Recherche), 80% of the Senegalese people have no health insurance coverage. Apart from the civil servants and the private sector's employees and their families, the vast majority of the population has no access to care because of the absence of insurance coverage.
A government project to extend the social security is being evaluated. It aims at providing medical coverage to 50% of the Senegalese people by 2015.
