Political risks not covered in South Sudan

Following the division of the country into two states, Africa Trade Insurance (ATI) has canceled all of its policies in South Sudan. ATI is a regional insurer operating in the segment of the political risks. The company, which began operations in 2001 with the support of seven African countries and the World Bank, has been covering only the countries signatory to the partnership.

Unlike its northern neighbor, South Sudan has not ratified such an agreement with ATI, which resulted in the termination of all risks located on that territory. The government and the company are in talks aimed at integrating South Sudan among the countries that signed the agreement.
