Poor growth of insurance premiums in 2016

The survey, entitled “Finance Forward Middle East Insurance Outlook Report 2016”, published by Middle East Global Advisors, is hardly encouraging for the insurance industry in the Middle East.

One of its findings refers to a slight increase or a rather stagnation of the insurers’ turnover on the short-term. On the medium term, the report is more optimistic for individual insurance companies than for corporate enterprises.

Falling oil prices, a strong dollar, a slight rise in the interest rates, along with the concerns raised by the economic growth in emerging countries have disturbed financial institutions, banks and Middle East insurers.
Moreover, investments are lacking diversification while insurance companies remain overexposed to real estate investments.
