Poor profitability of Ghanaian insurers

Despite a significant increase of turnover reported in recent years, the profitability of Ghanaian insurance companies remains poor. According to the insurance commission, the entry of new players into the market is responsible for stiffening competition.

Insurance companies are not efficient enough, detaining inadequate capital and are not endowed with sufficient resources in order to guarantee growth. The insurance commission has taken numerous measures, especially to develop training and consolidate insurance penetration rate.
