Qatar Re, gross premiums up by 60% in 2014

Qatar Re recorded an increase of 60% of its gross written premiums at 536 million USD in 2014. This performance is the result of its portfolio diversification strategy and its positioning as a global reinsurer.

The volume of business underwritten in North America, during the year, has considerably increased with the opening of the Bermuda branch. The American continent, henceforth, accounts for 24% of the portfolio compared to 14% previously.

Technical and net results amount respectively to 27 million USD (compared to 11 million USD in 2013) and 16 million USD (compared to 0.5 million USD in 2013).

It should be noted that, as in 2013, Qatar Re will not distribute dividends and will keep its benefits for the company capital support.
