Recommendations of the United Nations on the prevention of natural catastrophes

Held in Kobe (Japan) from January 18 to 22, 2005 in the presence of delegates from 160 countries, the United Nations Conference on the Prevention of Natural Disasters recommends in its final resolution the creation of an efficient and viable system of rapid alarm to Tsunamis in the Indian Ocean whose primary objective will be to reduce by 50% the losses in human lives and in goods for the next ten years.
