Results of the insurance market in 2013

The total turnover of the Ivorian insurance market in 2013 is 235.8 billion FCFA (494.7 million USD), an increase of 12.8% compared to 2012.

Life and non-life business accounted for respectively 44% (103.8 billion FCFA) and 56% (132 billion FCFA) of the total.

Claims paid in 2013 amounted to 72.8 billion FCFA (152.7 million USD), a decrease of 37% compared to the previous year.

Johnson Boa Roger, president of the Association of Insurance companies of Côte d'Ivoire (Asaci) wished to draw the attention of insurers on the "need to meet [their] commitments", so as not to "dent the image of [their] profession."
